A great beginner interval training workout would be 30 seconds of intense running, jumping jacks, or marches followed by a 30 second rest. Another way we can increase intensity is in our strength training. Let's say you do 4 sets of push-ups, 4 sets of squats, and 4 sets of crunches for your Monday strength training day. In order to increase intensity super set the 3 different exercises together so you go from one to the next without rest. After you do all three exercises rest. You can even decrease your rest period to increase intensity further.

Another great exercise routine you can do at home would be a circuit. For a basic circuit do 6 exercises one after the other followed by a 30 second rest period. Perform each exercise for a specific time period like 30 or 45 seconds or you can perform each exercise for a specific number of repetitions.
